Wardrobe Wednesday: Remix - Week 2

Welcome to week 2 in Wardrobe Wednesday: Remix! For those of you just following along, every month there is a theme or a challenge. This month is Remix month in Wardrobe Wednesday. Take one article of clothing, or an accessory, and restyle it into several different outfits! It's a great way to gain fresh perspective on your wardrobe and stretch one item farther in your outfit styling.

For my item I chose a simple brown knit dress. Here's how I restyled it.

Cat Print Skirt
Layering is a great way to stretch your wardrobe. I layered a fun cat print skirt over the knit dress and belted over the high waisted skirt with a tan braided belt.

I'm wearing:
Dress: TJ Maxx
Skirt: Charlotte Russe
Heels: N/A

Here are a few outtakes during out photoshoot. It was a bit hectic with the dog and baby. Baby fell over, hit her head, and needed some cuddles. Dog kept getting into the picture.

    1. Tricky tricky! Eh?

So funny, JUST today I was daydreaming over basic plain t-shirts I could tuck into skirts and let the patterns stand out. Just so happens, I have a few plain dresses just like this one. DUH! I was already wearing my dress as a plain t-shirt.

Saves me money from buying new t-shirts and stretches my wardrobe just a bit further. Win-win.

Even I forget about this trick sometimes....even while I'm wearing it. Er...

  2. I love how this came together - the way you have woven the belt looks almost nautical, the print is whimsical and unexpected and those heels are soooo cute.

The 'out takes' are actually pretty stylie too x

    1. Thanks, Nin!! I wore the outfit all day and it felt really good!

The cat print skirt is my favorite. It's very subtle.

    1. haha, Thank you! The outtakes made it a really fun photoshoot. Phil came home for lunch and I sheepishly asked if he could snap a few photos before he went back to work.

      He's the best.

  5. hahaha I love the outtakes! So funny! My cat tries to sneak his way into pictures too. I've never even thought about laying a skirt over a knit dress, that is fantastic! I think I may go try this now...LOL

  6. I recently made a knee-length skirt, and I like wearing it with a blue tank top, a brown beaded necklace, and white flats. I also have other patterned skirts that I like to wear with plain shirts. I'll try to take one of my clothing pieces and restyle it several different ways! I'll post them on my blog, and I'll link you to them.
