Away We Go

Source

In just a few short hours we will be leaving to head to the airport. We're flying all the way to Texas to see my family! Audrey will get to meet my parents and family for the first time, and I'm really really really really really excited. (understatement)

We'll be traveling for 22+ hours, which I'm not wildly looking forward to. But seeing my family greatly outweighs the traveling woes!

So, any last minute tips for traveling with a 1 year old?

See you on the flip side!

    1. Me too!! Aside from seeing my family, this is what I'm most excited for.

I will try to come back tanned and a pound heavier from taco consumption.

  2. Give the 1-year old something to chew on for take-off and climb, and again for decent and landing. Most kids cry during those times because the pressure changes hurt their ears and they don't know how to let it equalise. Chewing helps!

    1. This is a great tip! It makes a lot of sense. I'll bring along hard teething biscuits and raisins for her to chew/suck on.

  3. Have so much fun! We flew from Iowa to Sweden when Jasper was 16 months and then back when he was 23 months..it was kind of a hard age because he didn't understand why he had to sit down- but the flight attendants finally (after hearing him scream all through take off) told us we could walk him up and down the isles..so that's what my husband did for a few hrs. So my advice is- lots of snacks and drinks, walking up and down isles and some new toys. GOod luck!!

  4. Yes, a bottle to suck on during landing and take off will help Audrey's ears 'pop'. When we flew with Elliot and Rosie the flight attendants filled up a couple of bottles for the babies on board with the water in their little kitchen things. Lots of snacks to distract her and walks up and down the aisles. We'll be praying for you!

  6. Have fun! How exciting! I hate traveling with a baby!!! We live in Houston now. What part of TX are you going to? I love it here so far! Are you from TX? I wish I had some tips for you. It's so hit or miss. I had a disaster last time I flew with Weston at 7 months. So good luck!!!

  10. HOLY COW How did I miss that your are coming to Texas!!! If you have any free time I would love to get together, PLAY DATE! :) I've traveled with both kiddos, we watched movies on my nook or laptop. LOTS of snacks, we did tiny crunchy snacks (Like cheerios or something) Also comfort something (for Jocelyn it was her blanket and paci, for jo he had a little 'lovely' thing i had made him) Also took sippy cups ones with a straw they really had to suck on to help with their ears! Good luck! Have a safe flight :)
