Confession: I love holding my babies to sleep

I admit to holding my babies to sleep. In fact, I love it. I know all the advice. I know you're not "supposed to". They won't sleep without you cuddling them, yadda yadda. But here's the thing: I want to. Admittedly, it's not always convenient**, but they are babies for such a heart-breakingly short time. I just want to hold her close, breathe her in, and feel her heart beat against mine. I love feeling her soft fuzzy head with my lips while I kiss her little face over and over again. I love feeling her sigh as she settles into a deep slumber and breathe tiny breaths against my shoulder. I can't help it. I'm a sucker for my babies. I want this moment to last forever.

So humph.

**I'm holding her right now actually, as I type this post one handed. Not convenient by any means but worth it, to me. Babies grow up. And you can't cuddle them forever. I know this because Audrey is too busy playing duplo to cuddle and soon she'll be even bigger. Kiss your babies while you can. AMIRIGHT?

  3. I absolutely love holding our baby. I wear him around the house in a sling as much as possible. I just know this sweet time will fly by - the first 3 months already have! Those newborn sleepy days went by too fast. *sniffle*

  5. Yes! Their needs are so simple at that age - and one is being close to their mama!

  6. I am totally with you on that one. 3 years later I still occasionally do with my big little and the little little almost can't go off without it...but I don'y mind one bit! Like you say, you can't cuddle them forever.

  7. I said I'm gonna be the mom who holds their babies to sleep or sometimes while they sleep.

  8. unfortunately, I was afraid of my oldest getting used to it so i was pretty rigid with her at the beginning :( Then, I got pregnant with my second and started rocking my toddler a much as I could!! I realized I wouldn't be able once the second little one came!

I still carry her up three flights of stairs, just to hold on to that as much as I can!
Both of our babies are the same ages!

  9. Oh my goodness. I held my baby to sleep until she was nearly 9 months old, (we also let her sleep in the bed with us.. shaaaame.. shhh) but at about 9 months we started laying her in her crib to sleep. She's 14 months now and I haven't held her to sleep since that 9 month point. Last night, she just cried and cried, which she never does... and I went in and held her, and she fell asleep in about 5 minutes.. IT WAS BLISS. i SO miss those sweet days. <3 <3 you just keep holding that sweet thing.

also! I saw that you are a Texas girl living in New Zealand! I'm an Oklahoma girl, who use to live in New Zealand! We should chat about that sometime. I surely do miss that wonderful country.

  10. Agreed. Hold that baby, girl! I hold and cuddle Max before I put him down. In fact, he has to be cuddled and kissed on before he sleeps. I love it. Like you, I'm soaking it all up.
