A sling for Audrey

I'm a big fan of baby wearing. I will hold or wear my babies constantly, so wearing a sling around the house while I do housework makes a lot of sense for me! Baby is close and I can carry on with my day. Win win win.

Audrey is sooo observant these days! Lately she's been mimicking me and Phil a lot. She bounces her favorite stuffed puppy up and down to rock it to sleep. She changes her puppy's nappy. So when I looked down to see Audrey with Phil's safety glasses around her neck and her bunny sitting in it like a sling I shouldn't have been surprised. But how brilliant is that!! So I decided to make her a sling of her own. She loves it!

Little Audrey is growing so fast. I'm savoring these little moments. ♥

This time last year: More Than A Cranky Baby (When we were finding out that Audrey had severe reflux. Phew! Was that really a year ago??? Seems like a lifetime ago.)

Today I washed the dishes, folded all the clean cloth nappies, vacuumed, and tidied up really early so I figured, "What the heck" and took Squirrel and Audrey to the park to run around.

Audrey had her first steps shortly before her first birthday then learned how to walk while we were away on our USA trip. Now it all of a sudden it seems that she is so much older! She isn't a baby baby anymore. She can run around the park and explore on her own two feet.

I couldn't help but smile as she ran around me giggling and hanging onto my legs.
She picked up a single blade of grass to show me, and I thought my heart would burst.
I had to giggle when she tripped and got her hands dirty. She hates having dirty hands.

I used my shirt to wipe her hands, then I gave her a kiss. I love her. And she'll always be mine.

Away We Go

Source

In just a few short hours we will be leaving to head to the airport. We're flying all the way to Texas to see my family! Audrey will get to meet my parents and family for the first time, and I'm really really really really really excited. (understatement)

We'll be traveling for 22+ hours, which I'm not wildly looking forward to. But seeing my family greatly outweighs the traveling woes!

So, any last minute tips for traveling with a 1 year old?

See you on the flip side!

Audrey Eleanor's First Birthday

Audrey's Birthday

Yesterday Audrey turned 1. Her birthday came and went and now I'm a mother of a one year old. Maybe I've been in denial that she's growing up, but it seems like overnight she seems so much older. She isn't a baby baby anymore. She's so smart and says things like "mama" "papa" "squirrel" (occasionally) and "oh!" when she finds something new. She knows a few sign language words too. She can do simple puzzles and "read" books. She'll be walking any minute. (Oh, dear.) Actually, she's walking around the living room right now with a little cart full of blocks. She got it out all by herself.

Who is this tiny child?? It seems like yesterday my belly was still big and swollen with new life. And then she was in my arms. And now she's in my lounge making a huge mess with said blocks. And she's wearing my necklace, which she insists upon, so I haven't plucked up the courage to take it back. Plus it looks cuter on her.

The point is. I love her. And time is going by fast. Faster than I would like it to, really. Time is a terrible and exciting thing. Terrible in that these little moments of her babbling to herself and playing with blocks are here and gone forever. Exciting in that she's changing and growing into this beautiful little person all the time. And we get to be here for it.

I do feel quite blessed to have her, and I know Phil feels the same. I can't believe we get to be the ones to kiss her cheeks a hundred times a day and tuck her in bed and have her be ours. Our family.

It's pretty cool.

Happy birthday, Audrey. I love you. A lot. But I think you know that already.

Love,
Mama and Papa
