24 Weeks + Soon Maternity

24 Weeks24 Weeks
24 Weeks

With the heat of Summer beginning to lose its grip crisper mornings and cooler evenings are headed our way. With the change in season looming near I've given my maternity wardrobe some more thought. I'm looking forward to bright colors, scarves and 3/4 pants, boots and beanies, maxi skirts and longer shirts. These pants will definitely be making their way into my wardrobe as a staple the more the weather cools. They fit FABULOUSLY, especially in the rump area. The pants boast a wide stretch fold-over waistband that is kind to the baby bump while concealing my other bumps and lumps. LOVE.

We're officially 24 weeks. TODAY! It's so strange, it feels like time is FLYING by. I feel like crying out for someone to hit the pause button and just let my pregnant self BE and ENJOY. It's going by too fast. BUT at the same time, it doesn't feel new anymore. It feels like I've been pregnant awhile and it's all very exciting.

This little girl kicks and squirms on an almost clockwork schedule. Her kicks are no longer arbitrary little bumps and nudges, rather I can feel tiny limbs and feet and generally I can tell what position she's in. It. is. amazing. I love this tiny girl so much already. We are really really looking forward to having her in our lives.

Shirt: Anthropologie
Capri Pants: Audrey capri pants c/o Soon Maternity
Heels: Bandolino

Let me tell you a little secret. I've never actually owned a proper pair of maternity pants or shorts before. I know I know! Last time I just "got away" with wearing my old jeans and a rubber band. I was quietly chuffed with myself and proud of my achievement. I really did feel like I was getting away with something.

But here's the thing. These little beauties showed up on my doorstep and OH MY WORD! WHAT WAS I THINKING! Having a pair of proper maternity shorts is changing my life. They FIT! COMFORTABLY! And they make me LOOK GOOD.

I feel like this is where most of you are nodding your heads and saying, "Duh, you crazy woman." But this is a lightbulb moment for me. I'm grabbing every person who will listen to me and saying, "GET THESE! THEY'RE AMAZING!" Because they are.

They fit like a charm and there's room to grow (which uh... the Bean and I will be needing). These shorts are changing my life. And they make me feel fancy! And fancy is hard to come by these days.

On a semi-related note: LOOK HOW BIG MY TUMMY IS GETTING! Way bigger than the first time around. Also, chicken legs. I'll forever be plagued by them.

I'm wearing:
Tank: Forever 21
Shorts: Classic Cotton Maternity Shorts c/o Soon Maternity
Wedges: Nine West

Pssst... The shorts are on SALE! Nab some while you can.

18 weeks! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going by. Aside from a VERY active baby and my usual pregnancy aches and pains it's easy to even forget that I'm pregnant this time around.

I need to consciously keep track of this pregnancy before it completely passes me by so I intend to take lots more baby bump photos!

Dress // Handmade by me
Shoes // Lotta From Stockholm (A Christmas present from my parents!!)

Seriously. Aren't these shoes dreamy? I'm in deep love. I've been wanting a pair for ages. And they are SO shockingly comfortable. Easily the most comfortable pair of high heels I've ever owned. I'm in love.

Florals and Stripes (and hot pink too)

You know I'm a sucker for florals and stripes. It simultaneously makes me weak in the knees and gives me and extra pep in my step. It's my go-to choice for my own outfits, so when I dressed little Audrey in this number I pretty much died. In fact, she's wearing it right now, and when I look over at her, I die all over again.

This outfit is perfection. It's super stylish and made with sturdy knit fabric, perfect for the active tot. Add a hot pink coat with mini-elbow patches (EEEEEE!!!!!) and I'm a goner. Sold. Count me in.

And did you catch the print inside the jacket?? GORGEOUS, eh?? Little mini-horses! I LOVE Joules' attention to detail in the clothing. Absolutely stunning. They are really beautiful pieces. I HIGHLY recommend you check them out. And if kiddie clothes aren't your thing, check out their linens. Prettiest bedding I've ever seen. I NEED that duvet a big way. So so gorgeous.

Stripey Leggings: c/o Joules

P.S. - Also, just a little side story about the coat. My Great-grandmother Audrey (Greaty, as we called her), who we named Audrey after, used to have a quilted coat, a creme colored one with deep pockets which always seemed to hold a few pieces of candy. She loved that coat and always wore it when she took us kids out and about for our outings. This coat totally reminds me of her, and I miss her. I wish she could see Little Audrey in her own quilted coat! She would be SO proud!!

*This is a sponsored post but all the words are my own. I'm quite fond of Joules.

Floral Skirt Restyle

I love a good thrift store find that's perfect off the hanger. But that rarely ever happens for me. Instead, I find the perfect print dress in 3 sizes too big. Or I'll find a skirt that's the wrong length. Fortunately these are easy fixes!

I found this beautiful vintage floral print skirt whilst op-shopping with my dear friend, Dee. The florals in this skirt stole my breath. Beautiful bright perfection! It just needed a few tweaks here and there.

Before:
Floral Skirt: Before restyle vintage
Floral Skirt: Before restyle vintage

-The skirt was too big and sat too low on my hips. Because of the extra room in the waist it ended up making me look baggy and frumpy. It took away from the beauty of the florals! To fix this, I took it in a few inches so it would sit higher on my waist and create a slimmer silhouette.

-The skirt was JUST a tad too short to be a maxi skirt. Because I'm short (5'3") maxi skirts can be hit or miss. Too long and it's just not wearable. If the skirt sits just above the ankles it makes me look REALLY SHORT and STUMPY in real life. It visually cuts off the length of the skirt and makes me look quite squat. Not a good look, so I shortened this skirt just to the knees.

After:
Floral Skirt: After
Floral Skirt: After

The result is a fun and playful skirt! Easy to dress up or dress down.

Admittedly, I have a growing pile of clothes that I've bought with the intention of fixing up. But I can't seem to find the time/motivation that I need to tackle it! One piece at a time, eh? ;)

Do you ever bring the scissors to your vintage finds?

Wardrobe Wednesday: Remix - Week 5

The Everyday Comfy Outfit

Welcome to the FIFTH and FINAL week of remix month in Wardrobe Wednesday!

For those of you just joining in, this month I've taken one item of clothing (a simple brown knit dress) and have restyled it into a new outfit each week!

Here's how I styled it this week.

Today me and Audrey are having a quiet day at home so I went with simple and comfortable styling. I layered my favorite slouchy cardigan over the dress and paired it with some cute shoes. I pulled my hair up out of the way and that's this outfit done!

Now to go play duplo with the baby and read some books.

I'm wearing:
Dress: TJ Maxx
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters

Wardrobe Wednesday: Remix - Week 4

Hi everyone! Welcome to remix week FOUR!
The remix challenge has been GREAT for me this month!

For those of you just joining in, this month I've taken one item of clothing (a simple brown knit dress) and have restyled it into a new outfit each week!

Here's how I styled it this week.

I layered a lace top and a lace knit cardi over the knit dress. I belted it high wasted to give it some more structure. Since it's getting really cold I wore my rose colored jeans underneath but I think it would be really cute with some colorful tights or leggings!

Simple. Perfect for the season. Comfortable.

I'm wearing:
Knit Dress: TJ Maxx
Lace Top: Anthropologie
Cardigan: Forever 21
Jeans: Cotton On
Mocassins: N/A

Wardrobe Wednesday: Remix - Week 3

Remix week THREE! For those of you just joining in I'm wearing a simple knit dress and styling it different ways this month. You can join in too and link up here!

Learning to restyle an article of clothing in different ways is great to gain fresh perspective on your wardrobe and stretch one item farther in your outfit styling.

Here's how I styled my dress this week!

*Disclaimer: I have two identical knit dresses in two different colors. I normally would wear my brown dress for WW: Remix, but um... I threw it in the wash a few days ago and forgot to get it out of the machine. I know. Gross. So... it's currently being washed again. So I had to wear my navy dress instead. So pretend it's brown I guess? xo

P.S. I love this new shirt! It was a Mother's Day present ♥♥

P.P.S. - Thanks for indulging me on my Wardrobe Wednesday photos. You guys are the best for putting up with me ;)

See how I've styled this dress in week 1 and week 2!
