A Raglan Kind of Weekend

This weekend we packed up the car, baby, and headed to Raglan for a Saturday morning. The skies (and weather man) promised us rain, but we crossed our fingers and took our chances.

Our mission was to go to Phil's workmate's house and borrow a table saw. You see, Phil is making me some fabulous custom shelves for my craft room. We arranged to come over over the weekend and texted and called to let him know we were on our way. No reply. Drats.

We walked around the small town of Raglan and took a peek in a few shops. We stopped in a cafe for curly fries and aioli while we waited to hear back. We headed to the beach in hopes of seeing some seagulls (no luck there) and stopped in a little thrift store.

We never DID hear back from the guy but we had a really wonderful morning together! I vote for more family outings to the beach.

xoxo

In the end, we headed back home empty handed. When we got home I started rummaging through my craft room looking for something when I heard my neighbor talking to his buddy. I remembered that he said he did joinery and I thought maaaaaaybe he might have a table saw? I ran out and voiced my thoughts to Phil and suggested that maybe I go ask the neighbor. I went out in the backyard with Audrey and immediately lost my courage. So I started gardening instead. Pulling out the weeds while I tried to decide whether or not to ask. In the end I plucked up the courage and said hello. Asked if they had a table saw. No he didn't, but his friend did! And it was in his van right now! Hurrah! He'd come over and give us a hand. AMAZING! Here's to good neighbors. And plucking up the courage to ask.

    1. Ah, what a shame! I LOVE Raglan. It's the perfect little beach town. There's enough people to people watch, but not so many that you feel like you're in some touristy town. There's not even a McDonalds! ;)
