Being in the blogosphere you may have heard that Google is discontinuing its Google Reader service on July 1st. Sad! BUT Bloglovin has made it super easy for you to import your favorite reader from Google Reader! Simply log into Bloglovin. Go into Account > Settings > Other > Import from Google Reader. Easy peasy! I've made the switch.

Bloglovin is a really great way to keep up with your favorite blogs. It loads all the newest blog posts into one easy feed that you can scroll through and read until your hearts desire. I personally recommend Bloglovin!

    1. The answer is: YES! They are different.

The other answer is... but it may not be around forever.

I think it's safe to assume that Friend Connect will be getting the boot eventually as well. Google has failed to announce anything about yet at this stage, however the widget's website no longer works (google.com/friendconnect) and has been replaced by a Google Plus error page. Given that the two services run pretty much hand in hand, I would not be surprised.

  5. Hey Talia!
I've been prolonging making the transition from my Google Reader for a while now. Two questions you might be able to help me with...
    1) Is Google trying to integrate the previous Google Reader into the Google Plus? Do I need an app for that site in order to maintain my blogs?

    2) Why, if Google is closing their Reader, did they just recently update their app? Does Bloglovin have a decent app?

    1. 1) Google has stated that "There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we are pouring all of our energy into fewer products..." I'm guessing those "fewer products" they're focusing on include Google Plus. They've been pushing pretty hard to force users into using this social site. Perhaps bloggers can try to get people to +1 them on Google Plus or "circle" them. Whatever that means... (I hate Google Plus. There. I said it.)

      2) I'm pretty much app clueless these days as I don't have a functional iPhone. Gheeeettto.
