This morning at church was lovely. I love our little church and it's beautiful little congregation. This will be our last Sunday at the church and our last Sunday before we are a married couple.
6 days until the wedding! 6 days until I am Mrs. van der Wel. So awesome.
I love that man. I can't wait to be married to my best friend.
"Birthed out of a senior thesis project on the narratives of Genesis, this is Valley Maker." by Austin Crane.
I can't stop listening to this album. Me and Phil have listened to it over and over again as we drive around town to run errands or work around the house. You can buy the Valley Maker album here on a name-your-price basis. Give it a listen! It's incredible.
I am temporarily closing my shop down during our move to New Zealand. Should any orders come in, I wouldn't be able to take care of them. So during this time, we're just going to focus on finishing packing my things and getting ready for the big move and the big day.
This afternoon me and Phil drove up to Fredericksburg, TX along with my parents and grandma. I had never been to Fredericksburg before and it was sooo cute! It was the cutest little historic Texan town with loads of cute diners, shops, bakeries, and ice cream parlors.
Our first stop was a diner with the claim "Best burger in town". We had to check it out to test its claim.
The burgers were sooo big and they were pretty good! I wasn't wild about the bun though. It was kind of sweet? Sweet buns with a burger? Not my thing. I think we are still on the search for the best burger ever. Suggestions?
The main street of Fredericksburg is too cute! The shop fronts are amazing. So many cool little stores!
My favorite was the bakery ice cream parlor we went into. It was soooooo cute inside. SO many cute things, delicious bottled sodas, ice cream, and baked goods. We got a couple of bottled sodas and an ice cream for me!
If you get the chance to go, do!
On our way home we stopped at a peach fruit stand. Amazing!! They had fresh local peaches and blackberries.
The countdown is ticking and we are getting closer day by day. (Each feels like an eternity!)
My dress is in. Phil has his suit. (He looks super handsome). We have our shoes. I think I decided how I want to do my hair. We finally found the perfect brown tie for him. Can you believe we could not find a brown tie anywhere?? We looked high and low.
Just about all our ducks are in a row. We still have to finish packing my things and weighing them to ship overseas, but we are close. Oh we are very very close!
One of the things are are still planning and working on is our upcoming road trip after the wedding! We are driving up to Canada and back and I am sooooooo excited! I CAN'T WAIT!
This last week we had our engagement photos taken by the lovely Miss Ashtin Paige. She is a dear dear friend of mine and was so pleased she agreed to take our photos. She did an incredible job! I feel like the photos represent us so well. I have so many favorites! Here are a few of them:
I love this man! I love these photos. Thank you, Ashtin!
My favorite ones are the picnic photos with the records. Check out more of her work here http://www.ashtinpaige.com/
Dear Yard Sale, We powered through. You have been conquered.
This weekend was so hectic and the outcome so rewarding! I love yard sales and really had no idea how much work went into putting a yard sale together. We were out from morning till evening on Friday and Saturday and it was a complete success!! It was hard at first to go through all my things and prepare to let them go, but in the end it was good to let things go and mentally prepare for our new lives in New Zealand.
Our preparations began the week before as we made tons of trips back and forth from my storage unit pulling out my things and sorting through them. Phil and the boys loaded all the furniture up and out. Phil and I tagged and put prices on everything. Our work was cut out for us and we were ready to get the garage sale going and behind us. We put up signs. We put up ads. We put up a listing on Craig's list and started to cross our fingers.
Day 1: Feeling optimistic and ready to go!
We woke up bright and early and lugged out all of my worldly possessions onto the lawn. Before we could even finish pulling stuff out onto the lawn people were already swarming in! And let me tell you people... yard-salers are animals. Yikes. I had no idea! Nobody warned me!!
The lovely Miss Ashtin Paige stopped by too! She brought us slushies and hugs and bought a few things too! Thanks, Ashtin! Those slushies were a life saver! YOU ARE THE BEST!
In the end we sold almost everything. The only big items that were left were some large bookshelves, which we may keep here at my mom's house. It was incredible! I was blown away by the success of the yard sale. We were truly blessed. This was a huge answer to prayer.
Here are my two favorite pictures of the day. My two favorite helper boys!! Boots and Phil:
We made it through! We are still recovering.
Hope your weekend was wonderful!! xoxo Talia Christine
We are currently running around sooooo busy getting ready for the garage sale tomorrow!!! (I am selling all my worldly possessions getting ready to move to New Zealand.) I looove yard sales, but putting them together is a lot of work!
We have an insane amount of stuff ready to sell tomorrow and tonight we are finishing pricing and planning.
Cross your fingers for us! Ready or not, here tomorrow comes!
