In Stitches: Audrey's Bathing Suit

So, the week after after I made my resolution not to buy any clothes this year for me and my girls and to sew any new clothes instead I realized... oh dear. We have a pool party to attend to. And Audrey didn't have a bathing suit. DOH!

I had to make one. It was my only option.

I scoured the internets for a decent toddler one piece but couldn't find one I liked. The bathing suit needed to have low-cut legs, good coverage on the bottom, simple, and well... cute! But not too frilly. Needless to say, I didn't find one. So I drafted my own (eek!) and I'm pleased with how it turned out!

I used a pair of undies that fit really well for starting out my pattern and worked it out from there. Simple, cute, and easy to put on! Audrey loves it too. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

Details:
Peplum Fabric: I used some leftover stretchy/sturdy jersey that I bought years ago, It's the ultimate stretch/weight for me!
Peplum Pattern: Self drafted
Leggings Fabric: gifted to me by Leonie, perfect for these leggings!
Leggings Pattern: Go-To Leggings

After seeing Craftiness Is Not Optional's Pippa Peplum and Floral Leggings I was inspired to make my own! I didn't use the Pippa Peplum pattern, it was easy enough to draft my own, but I did use my handy Go-To Leggings. LOVE THAT PATTERN.

I love how it turned out! I want to make a longer sleeve version in a dark floral knit and make some grey leggings to mix and match. Stay tuned!

Part of the In Stitches project means that we're not buying any new clothes for the girls (or for me) this year. This means that we've run out of things for Audrey in her size and we have no winter clothes. With Autumn upon us, Audrey can no longer just sleep in a T-shirt. I needed to make some pajamas that are warm, but not too warm. The result is great! Now we have leggings and a matching Tee in a lovely floral knit fabric. The fabric was gifted to me by Louana in the Sew Sweet Swap. And I love it! What's more. Audrey loves her new pajamas.

The project was really quick to sew up. Phil left a bit before 5:00PM and by the time he came back just after 6:00PM I had dinner prepped and brand new pajamas. FIST PUMP. How's that for productive? ;)

It's hard to tell in the photos, but the neckline binding on the T-shirt is just the main fabric turned inside out so that it's a lighter yellow. Quite effective!

Fabric: knit fabric, gifted by Louana
Pants Pattern: Go-To Leggings
T-Shirt Pattern: Self drafted

I'm so pleased with how they turned out! I have some leggings cut out for Margaret and will draft up a matching Tee for her in an appropriate size so that the girls can match. HELLO! I've also already got plans to make some long sleeve Tees as well.

Easy Peasy pajamas!

Pattern: Albion by Colette Patterns
Main Fabric: 88% Polyester, 10% Viscose, 2% Elastane
Lining Fabric: Vintage cotton linen
Toggles: Handmade

You guys! I made my first coat! AND I took part in my first sewalong. It was a really fun project to work on. Colette patterns are always such a joy to work with. This was also the first pattern that I've really made some heavy modifications to. Being a mens/unisex coat, I had to modify large portions to make sure the coat didn't swallow me up, but it was pretty easy with the Albion Sewalong Guide. To make it more feminine and fitting I shortened the coat quite a bit, made the body smaller and slightly fitted, made the front and back yolks narrower at the shoulder, made the sleeves narrower, and changed the patch pockets to heart pockets <3 And I love how it turned out! It's comfortable and stylish, something I feel really proud to wear around! I'm all ready for Autumn now. Just in time too! x

YEWW! My first (successful) self-drafted pattern! I had this stretchy, soft knit lying around for ages and wanted to make Audrey a t-shirt out of it since she is running out of her basics. I borrowed a friend's overlocker for the first time and lemme tell you... life changing! I've made four t-shirts because it's so LOVELY to use! QUICK! Gotta go make some more...

I don't have much to say about this shirt except that it's exactly what I wanted (which up until recently rarely ever happened!). It's casual, comfy, and baggy in a fits-just-right sort of way. The banding around the arms that matches the neckline gives it a special touch. The only thing is that I haven't hemmed the bottom because I ran out of navy thread, but I kind of like how knits just roll up and don't fray! Definitely loving this shirt. I'll be making more of these!
